R.W.Bro. Robert J. Brooks

District Deputy Grand Master

Hamilton District B

2007 – 2008

R.W.Bro. Robert J. Brooks was initiated into Union Lodge No. 7, Grimsby, Ontario, in June 1973. He served Union Lodge as their Worshipful Master in June 1980, Historian from 1983 to 2005, Treasurer from 2005 to 2007, and compiled "Two Hundred Years at the Forty", Union Lodge’s Bi-Centennial History book. R.W.Bro. Brooks is very proud of Union Lodge No. 7, and felt very honoured when he was chosen as their candidate for the Office of District Deputy Grand Master.

R.W.Bro. Brooks has been active in Hamilton District B. He served as President of the Masters’ and Wardens’ Association of Hamilton Districts A, B & C in 1982, President of the Hamilton District’s Past Master’s Association in 1989, conducted the successful "Follow Your Guide" District B Benevolent Project in 2006 – 2007, and was elected as their District Deputy Grand Master in July 2007.

Outside District B, R.W.Bro. Brooks is a member of Heritage Lodge A.F.&A.M., No. 730, G.R.C. and an Honorary Member (1984) of Erie Parish United Lodge F. & A.M. No. 161, State of New York, Cheektowaga, New York.

In the Hamilton Valley of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada, R.W.Bro. Brooks is a member and Past Thrice Puissant Grand Master (1996-1998) of Murton Lodge of Perfection, and a member of Hamilton Sovereign Chapter Rose Croix and Moore Sovereign Consistory. In the Valley of Toronto he is a member of Toronto Grand Lodge of Perfection and Toronto Sovereign Chapter of Rose Croix. He was coroneted an Honorary Inspectors General of the 33rd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada at Niagara Falls, Ontario in September 1999. He served the Valley of Hamilton as its Membership Chairman for many years, and is presently serving Supreme Council as a member of the Membership Retention Committee.

He is married to his wife Laura, and has two married sons, W.Bro. Robert Brooks Jr., and Bro. Scott Brooks. Both he and his wife are retired elementary teachers.

Perhaps his proudest moment in Freemasonry was the night his son, W.Bro. Robert Brooks Jr., Master of Union Lodge No. 7, initiated his brother Scott Brooks into masonry. It every mason’s dreams to have their sons join the Craft, and that night fulfilled this dream.

R.W.Bro. Robert Brooks. is very excited about being given the opportunity to serve Hamilton District B as their District Deputy Grand Master for 2007-2008, and he is looking forward to working closely with the District Team to keep:

District B a BUZZZZZZZ.

Goals and Initiatives

The District Deputy Grand Master’s Goals and Initiatives will be achieved through a popular acronym:

"Together Everyone Achieves More"

The TEAM approach means you and me. Everyone in Hamilton District B is considered a Team Member. Your input and assistance will always be appreciated. Together we will work to:

  • Assist The Lodge of Strict Observance No. 27 revive their Lodge. They requested assistance at last May’s District B Meeting. Any other Lodge in the District that needs this type of assistance are welcome to take part.
  • Increase the awareness of District Team Chairmen at all meetings throughout the year.
  • Develop an incentive program to promote visitation in the District.
  • Encourage Lodges to make members and visitors feel special as they arrive and depart from Lodge.
  • Continue into a second year of our District Benevolent Project "Follow Your Guide" by promoting the recent graduation of our four dogs: Buzby, Bonnie, JJ and Abby. Stress that our next dog is our fifth, then our sixth and so on.
  • Promote our District B Website, hamiltonmasons.com, as our number one source of information.
  • Continue to increase our support for District Blood Donor Clinics to maintain our Number One standing in Ontario.
  • Produce a District B Newsletter which will be sent out to all brethren perhaps 2 to 3 times a year.
  • Brethren, these Goals and Initiatives are attainable with your help.

Come join the TEAM. Get Involved. Feel part of the Masonic Family.

You will enjoy your Masonic journey.
