Hamilton District 'B' Blood Donors
A Tribute to Bill Roberts
We Say Good-bye to a Friend With the passing of William (Bill) Roberts on Monday, August 15 2005, we appreciate the man we knew as a friend, colleague, and partner of the blood program. To his credit, Bill had donated over 100 units of whole blood. His commitment to the blood program as a donor grew over the years and Bill through his membership with the Masons of District "B", began to recruit everyone he knew to participate in the program either by becoming a donor or to volunteer at community clinics. Approximately, 6 years ago, Bill solidified the Masonic support of clinics throughout the Hamilton area. The masons, on Bill's urging began to sponsor a monthly clinic at the Sackville Hill Senior Centre in Hamilton. Each month a different Lodge within District "B" financially sponsored the clinic and provided volunteer support to ensure the success of the clinic. Throughout the years, with Bill's convincing nudge, the Masonic support grew as he enlisted all Lodges in the area to support local blood donor clinics. The Masons of District "B" currently partner with us in over 40 blood donor clinics per year and growing... Bill's ability to forge new friendships and instill confidence in those around him made him a great leader throughout our community. He will be sadly missed but forever remembered as an incredibly caring and generous man who shared his passion for life with all of us. Kerri Emberlin Recruiter, Volunteer Resources
